Best Fireworks & 4th of July Celebrations Around St. Louis, MO (2026)

This year isn't just another Fourth of July, it's America's 250th birthday, and the St. Louis region is throwing a party to match. Whether you want big-city fireworks under the Arch, a hometown parade in Kirkwood, or a quiet afternoon with a museum exhibit, here's your guide.

Downtown: Celebrate 250 (formerly Fair Saint Louis)

The event long known as Fair Saint Louis has been reborn this year as Celebrate 250, a two-night blowout at the Gateway Arch built specifically around the Semiquincentennial.

  • Friday, July 3 "The Party." Gates open 4:00 PM. Headliners Zedd, Ludacris, and Big Wild take the stage as the Arch lights up after dark.
  • Saturday, July 4 "The Fourth." Gates open 2:00 PM. Miranda Lambert headlines, with Kenny Loggins, Stephen Marley, and Rebirth Brass Band rounding out the bill. America's Birthday Parade steps off at 4:00 PM at Market and 14th, running through downtown to Market and Broadway.
  • Both nights: a 1,500-drone aerial show kicks off around 9:40 PM, immediately followed by fireworks over the Mississippi — one of USA Today's Top 10 fireworks shows in the country.

It's free and open to everyone;  no tickets or RSVP needed. Leave the cooler, the drone, and the folding-chair arsenal at home, though: outside food and drink, weapons, drones, bikes, and pets (non-service animals) aren't allowed inside the event footprint. The easiest way in is MetroLink to the Laclede's Landing station, then a short walk south.

Webster Groves Community Days

A true neighborhood tradition, Webster Groves Community Days runs July 2 and 4 at Memorial Field.

  • July 2: Children's Pet Pageant ,a Webster Groves institution in its own right.
  • July 4: The parade steps off at 10:00 AM at Lockwood and Mason roads, followed by a full day of community festivities. Fireworks light up Memorial Field starting at 9:15 PM.

It's the kind of low-key, lawn-chairs-and-lemonade holiday that makes Webster Groves worth the visit even if you don't live there.

Kirkwood Freedom Festival & Fireworks

Over in Kirkwood Park, the Freedom Festival keeps things simple and family-friendly on July 4: food trucks open at 5:00 PM, live music starts at 7:00 PM, and fireworks go off at dark. No massive crowds, no downtown traffic ,  just a genuinely local way to celebrate.

Other Fireworks Worth Knowing About

If you're weighing options around the metro:

  • Chesterfield 4th of July Celebration First Community Athletic Complex, food trucks and circus performances starting at 6:00 PM.
  • St. Charles Riverfest  July 3–4 at Frontier Park, with a Friday drone show (9:20 PM) and Saturday fireworks (9:20 PM) over the river.
  • Six Flags St. Louis "Star-Spangled Night" fireworks behind Batman: The Ride at 9:05 PM.
  • Grant's Farm swapping traditional fireworks for a drone show as part of its Summer Nights series, July 3–5.
  • Bridgeton's Independence Day Celebration  parade at 10:00 AM with the theme "Cheers to 250 Years, America!"

America 250 in St. Louis Museums

The Semiquincentennial has also brought a wave of exhibits worth building a museum day around:

  • Saint Louis Art Museum "Picturing Independence." Marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this exhibition gathers more than 50 works spanning 1770 to 2018, including silver attributed to Paul Revere and paintings by George Caleb Bingham and Benjamin West. SLAM is also screening the classic musical 1776 on July 3 in the Farrell Auditorium.
  • Missouri History Museum (Forest Park). Alongside its long-running exhibits on the 1904 World's Fair and Charles Lindbergh, the museum is running free summer history storytelling programs tied to the 250th birthday theme throughout the season.
  • St. Louis Area History Showcase. A one-day, festival-style celebration of regional history hosted at Jefferson Barracks Historic Site, bringing together dozens of local history organizations, museums, and reenactors.
  • Field House Museum. Hosted a stop of "The American Revolution Experience," a traveling exhibit developed with the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Battlefield Trust, focused on the everyday people of the Revolution rather than the famous names.

Worth noting: several of the biggest America 250 exhibitions are elsewhere in Missouri, if you're up for a short road trip — the Missouri Capitol's "Stars, Stripes and Celebrations" in Jefferson City runs through May 2027, and the National WWI Museum in Kansas City hosted a rare display of founding-era documents earlier this year.
